Sinopsis

Este libro explora la importancia crucial de la gobernanza y la participación comunitaria para una gestión turística sostenible y equitativa. Reconociendo la complejidad inherente a los destinos, la obra desafía los enfoques tradicionales, proponiendo un modelo colaborativo que integra a múltiples actores, como autoridades, empresas y, fundamentalmente, las comunidades locales. Se abordan los principios esenciales de la gobernanza turística y se detallan diversos métodos para fomentar una participación comunitaria efectiva. El texto analiza las estructuras y mecanismos de coordinación necesarios entre los grupos de interés, apoyándose en estudios de caso que ilustran su aplicación práctica. Conjuntamente, se profundiza en los desafíos y oportunidades de la participación a nivel local, identificando barreras estructurales y culturales, y resaltando el valor del liderazgo y los conocimientos locales para el fortalecimiento de capacidades. En suma, el libro ofrece un marco integral para transformar los destinos, impulsando un desarrollo turístico más inclusivo, resiliente y próspero.

Máster en Turismo: dirección de empresas turísticas. Universidad de Huelva (España). Doctor en Turismo, Universidad de Málaga (España). Docente Habilitado del Sistema Nacional de Nivelación y Admisión. Investigador acreditado de SENESCYT. Profesor universitario con más de 12 años de experiencia. Ex Coordinador de la carrera de Turismo y Hotelería de la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar. Ingeniero en Ecoturismo por la Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH). Posee dos maestrías: una en Gestión y Desarrollo Social por la Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (UTPL) y otra en Planificación y Gestión Sostenible del Turismo por la Universidad de Jaén, España. Cuenta con formación complementaria como Administrador de Empresas de Gestión para el Desarrollo Local y Guía Nacional de Turismo. Ha impulsado el desarrollo local y el comercio justo a través de su trabajo en diversas organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONGs), y se ha desempeñado como responsable técnico provincial en el Ministerio de Turismo del Ecuador, donde contribuyó al fortalecimiento de políticas y proyectos turísticos sostenibles en la zona. Fue miembro del directorio de la Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana Núcleo de Bolívar. Actualmente es Profesor Titular Auxiliar e Investigador Agregado 1 (REG-INV-20-04550) en la Universidad Estatal de Bolívar, donde ocupa el cargo de Coordinador Académico de la carrera de Turismo y Hotelería. Es candidato a Doctor en Dirección de Proyectos por la Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (UIIX), México.
