Synopsis

The book provides a detailed analysis of the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, highlighting neurons, glial cells, synapses and neurotransmitters. It addresses the importance of neuroglia in the central and peripheral nervous system, as well as their role in pathological processes. The clinical relevance of the nervous system, its division into central and peripheral, and the function of structures such as the spinal cord and limbic system are explored. In addition, concepts such as consciousness, attention, orientation and memory are discussed, along with their clinical correlates. Sensory and motor processes are detailed, as well as the influence of emotions and decision-making on behavior. The text also discusses topics such as language, free will, decision making, insight and their clinical relevance in various neurological and psychiatric diseases.
