Perspectives on Social Responsibility in Contemporary Times
Keywords:
Social Responsibility, Anthropocene, Sustainability, Culture of Peace, Education.Synopsis
The book invites us to rethink the web of relationships and interactions of social responsibility in contemporary times with a sense of urgency. The authors of this book employ theoretical reflection grounded in social, environmental, cultural, and economic issues, without believing in dogmatic formulas or recipes to solve problems. Instead, they assume a complex, inter- and transdisciplinary notion that constitutes Social Responsibility as a key to reframing our individual and collective perspectives and actions within our surrounding environment. Here, theory is considered a toolbox that allows us to understand and address what happens to us and to anticipate future scenarios. It is about opening up to possibilities by re-signifying a social responsibility capable of overcoming an instrumental, anthropocentric vision and an anti-humanistic, indifferent stance in the face of misfortune and injustice. This book is an invitation to continue the dialogue around many central issues to elucidate our present.
