Knowledges in Practice. Transdisciplinary Developments in Health from Latin American Territories (Vol. II)
Keywords:
transdisciplinary health, historical consciousness, sustainability, health literacy, financial protectionSynopsis
This collective work addresses health as a complex and situated phenomenon that transcends the boundaries of biomedicine, articulating historical, environmental, educational, economic, and social dimensions within the Latin American context. Through five research studies, the volume explores how historical knowledge can contribute to emotional well-being and the understanding of the present in societies of accelerated change; how the principles of circular economy and green chemistry enable the valorization of agro-industrial waste for the development of sustainable products; how the history of epidemics constitutes a pedagogical resource for strengthening critical health literacy; how public financing affects the financial protection of health systems; and how university students construct meanings and practices around healthy lifestyles. As a whole, the work offers a comprehensive and transdisciplinary perspective that invites a rethinking of contemporary health challenges from a critical, situated standpoint committed to equity and sustainability in the region.
