Educational Innovation and Active Learning. How to Transform the Classroom and Motivate Students
Keywords:
educational innovation; active learning; student motivation; formative assessment.Synopsis
This study analyzes educational innovation and active learning as fundamental strategies for transforming the classroom and strengthening student motivation in today’s educational contexts. Throughout its chapters, it examines the theoretical foundations of active learning, highlighting approaches such as constructivism, meaningful learning, experiential theory, and the contributions of neuroeducation to the teaching-learning process. It also addresses aspects related to intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, student-centered learning, and the role of error as part of academic development. Similarly, it explores methodologies and strategies that promote participation, critical reflection, and knowledge construction through practical and collaborative experiences. The study also analyzes the importance of transforming traditional assessment into learning-oriented assessment, considering tools such as formative assessment, rubrics, self-assessment, peer assessment, and effective feedback. Finally, it highlights the need to implement more dynamic, inclusive, and participatory educational models that improve the quality of learning, develop cognitive skills, and strengthen student autonomy in the face of current educational demands.
